In his introduction to “The Secret to Transformational Leadership,” Quintin Shepherd shares how he came to co-author the book, what events inspired him, and how his “moving meditation” gave him time for reflection and planning.
In the September 2022 issue of School Administrator magazine, he continues this disarming honesty about his own leadership journey by sharing why he wrote the book. Quintin believes that communicating the “why” of one’s work s the first step in a four-part framework that lays out the essence of transformational leadership:
1. Communicate the “why” of our work.
2. Communicate the “who” of our work.
3. Communicate the “how” of our work.
4. Communicate the “what” of our work.
“Without a meaningful ‘why,’” he writes in the book, “your words will fall flat, and your success is in jeopardy.”
